SkyTech Multispectral Imaging combines high-resolution aerial imagery with advanced analytics software to help farms, orchards, and vineyards optimise irrigation strategy and performance. We help growers use image data to achieve tangible results. Whether you’re a grower, dealer, or advisor, we provide expert support to help you improve profitability across your business.
Aerial Imaging - Down to Earth
Your SkyTech Plant Health map creates a scale to highlight differences within your area of interest. Working with SkyTech, the farmer and specialist will analyse and develop a crop prescription strategy using our flight planning software. The drone variables (flow rate, droplet size, height and speed) are adjusted to address problem areas.
Aerial Imaging
SkyTech help growers use NDVI image data to achieve tangible results. SkyTech Multispectral Imaging combines high-resolution aerial imagery with advanced analytics software to help farms, orchards, and vineyards optimise irrigation strategy and performance. We provide the full picture of irrigation system performance and crop health.
In a nutshell, this service can quickly and accurately pinpoint any stressed areas in your crop, field, paddock, vineyard or orchard even before there is any visible sign to the human eye. This allows you to take a direct and localised action to nonperforming areas.
Hi-Tech
SkyTech now offers a state of the art Micasense NDVI imaging service that can help vineyard managers fine-tune irrigation patterns to bring blocks to a stress level that peaks for a particular site. This helps winemakers choose which sub-blocks of grapes to blend. An NDVI block image, an infrared image and a grayscale image cost as little $9-15 per acre.
Only a few years ago, aerial photography companies used single-engine Cessna aircraft equipped with GPS navigation creating NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) images from 10,000 feet with a digital multi-spectral camera and special computer programs for transforming reflection image data into NDVI imagery.
This was an expensive exercise for the Vineyard or even a technology that was not even adopted.
Results
A key objective of vineyard management is to improve the return-on-assets through improving fruit quality (i.e., higher value fruit) while at the same time bringing the vineyard to as close to uniform as possible.
Simple statement, tough job!
A significant benefit to the winemaker as a result of using NDVI is the ability to easily view the vineyard on a sub-block basis. This allows the winemaker to create a greater number of wine lots with greater uniformity in each lot, which in turn allows for more blending and a greater potential return to the winery.
Benefits to the Vineyard
- Leverage the return on vineyard assets through increased efficiency
- Improve grape quality
- Increase block uniformity
- Allow the winemaker to view block production and quality at the sub-block level
- Increase efficiency in berry sampling
- Improve harvest design efficiency
What we offer
Skytech offers State-of-the-Art Imaging and Analysis to the Agriculture Industry. Working together, the farmer and specialist analyse and develop a crop prescription strategy using our imaging and flight planning software. Our drone variables (flow rate, droplet size, height and speed) are adjusted to address problem areas.
State of the Art Scanning and Analysis
Whether you wish to hire our state-of-the-art imaging services to analyse your property on a one off occasion or at regular intervals, we will work closely with you. Our advanced software allows us to upload your images to the cloud allowing you to access at any time. This data base of your results can track the health of your investment and plan the best way to tackle any issues you may discover.
Imaging as part of a continuous Farm/Orchard Health Plan
As part of an ongoing commitment between you and SkyTech, we can provide an on demand service or a scheduled weekly, fortnightly or monthly scans of your property to allow you to continually assess the state of your crops.
Working with you, our specialists will provide custom solutions for enhancing your crop health. You will be able to track improvements by comparing historic scans and plan your next steps with confidence.
How we do it
Image Capture
We capture imagery during peak daylight hours and under weather conditions that minimise distortion from shadows and cloud cover. Our highly sensitive, Micasense cameras detect minute changes in the multispectral range allowing us to detect crop stress earlier than our competitors.
Processing and Analysis
Imagery is geo-referenced and meticulously “masked” to ensure that only relevant information is evaluated. By making use of crop-specific data models and isolating the canopy from ground cover and other background noise, we prevent skewing of the data and enable a more accurate assessment of plant health.
Solutions in Sight
Our analytics tools and software help you interpret your data, translating what you can see in your imagery into what you can do about it.
Solve with Certainty
Pinpoint irrigation issues and discover opportunities to maximise return on every acre.
SkyTech Imaging delivers irrigation management solutions that help you improve profitability across your operation. Our team of experts provides dedicated support to help you put your data to work before, during, and after your season.
Using high-resolution aerial imagery and advanced analytics, we’ll help you:
-
Identify common irrigation problems in your fields before they’re visible to the naked eye—and solve them before they impact your bottom line.
-
Track your progress and measure the impact of key farm management decisions.
-
Optimise your irrigation strategy to boost yields and profits.
Year-Round Solution
What is terrific about multispectral imagery is that this sensor technology can be used throughout the crop cycle. Whether used during sowing, irrigation, fertilisation or harvesting, drones providing multispectral imagery can be used at each step allowing the farmer to manage his crops very effectively in every season.
Quality control and Delivery
Imagery is assessed in-house by SkyTech specialists, passing through multiple checkpoints before delivery within 48 hours of the flight. All data is stored in the cloud so growers can access their data on a mobile device, tablet, or desktop computer anytime.
